At least 227 people have died and hundreds were injured or missing after a M 7.2 earthquake struck southwestern Haiti on Saturday, reducing churches, hotels, and homes to rubble. This earthquake occurred 150 km west of the capital Port-au-Prince at a depth of 10 km. This earthquake was widely felt across the region including all of Hispaniola, the islands of Jamaica, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
