See also XZ 2013 passive. The USGS has acquired OBS and high-resolution 2D streamer data at two sites in the Gulf of Mexico where gas hydrates are known to exist below the seafloor. At GC955, we deployed 21 OBS for a period of approximately 6 days and acquired approximately 400 km of streamer data. At WR313 we deployed 25 OBS for a period of approximately 6 days and acquired approximately 450km of streamer data. The purpose of this data acquisition is to extend high-resolution site-characterization away from the on-site boreholes where extensive LWD data have been acquired, and to develop methodologies for use in gas hydrate studies at other sites.
