Abstract

During an NSF external review of the Global Seismographic Network in 2015, the review panel recommended that design goals for the GSN should be revisited in the context of new analysis techniques, new discoveries, and 21st century technology capabilities in sensor hardware, lower power systems, telemetry and data acquisition and processing software. As such we are seeking community input on updating the GSN Design Goals to reflect evolving basic scientific research and earthquake monitoring needs. Emphasis will be placed on updating the desired scientific observations that the GSN should provide over the actual hardware requirements and specifications.
