IRIS Seismographs in Schools Program

one-pager example

The IRIS Seismographs In Schools is funded by NSF and distributes about 30 AS1 seismographs per year. Since 2000 over 100 AS1s have been given out to K-12 schools, science centers and organizations and universities. The ultimate goal through the US Educational Seismographic Network (USESN) is to eventually have 100’s of research grade instruments, 1000’s of AS1 instruments and 10,000’s of teachers using seismology data in their classrooms.

Applications for AS1s are invited twice a year, in spring and fall. Go to the Seismographs in Schools page for more information.
