IRIS DMS and the FDSN are organizing a workshop focused on the management of metadata and time series data from seismological networks. The workshop will be held August 13-19, 2010, in Foz do Iguassu, Brazil and is being co-sponsored by CERESIS and IASPEI.
The classroom seismograph at the Da Vinci Academy, a participant in the IRIS Seismographs in Schools program, recorded the February 10 earthquake near Chicago and provided information to determine the location of this event. Seismologist Suzan van der Lee explains to viewers what scientists know about earthquakes, faults and the subsurface in Illinois.
A one-day hands-on workshop on the PQLX (PASSCAL Quick Look eXtended) software will be conducted on June 8, 2010, in Snowbird, Utah, just prior to the 2010 IRIS Workshop. Principal investigators and researchers involved with data quality and analysis are encouraged to attend.
