The IDSC conducted a webmeeting to hear a status briefing on IRIS activities and discuss plans for engaging seismic and geodetic community stakeholders in 2021. IRIS and UNAVCO will merge to form EarthScope, Inc. at the end of the current award in late 2023 but will be engaged in increasingly detailed merger discussions over the next 3 years. In anticipation of this and with the encouragement of the Presidents of IRIS and UNAVCO, the IDSC will invite a UNAVCO staff member (Annie Zaino) to join the committee. The group continue a trend of recruiting membership from both the IRIS and UNAVCO communities. The group then considered what activities it could undertake in 2021 given the limited resources available under the current award. It will begin by planning one to two webinars in the spring focused on the logistics of planning research experiments in different parts of the world and a broad look at ethics of international collaboration.
