A recfunk09_pick code is an update to the recfunk_ascii code previously distributed by IRIS. The former code was developed on SUN workstations. The FORTRAN language used in recfunk_ascii has a number of architecture-specific aspects. The new version has been adapted to the Mac OS X and G77 compiler, thus the code is much more universal. It comes with pre-compiled executable files for both PPC and Intel Macs. It should also compile on any UNIX machine, but was tested only on Macs. A number of features were added to the code. These take advantage of SAC header ability to store extra information (like time picks and wave type flags), and allow user to do extra manipulations with data. A significant clean-up of the source code (largely - removal of testing and development branches) will make understanding the code easier for those who like to look "under the hood". In addition to the source and the compiled code, the "package" includes a set of shell scripts that help prepare data for analysis, run the code, and plot the results. Also a short practical guide is provided. Vadim Levin http://www.rci.rutgers.edu/~vlevin
