More of the Same
A couple weeks have passed since my last entry. The time has really been flying by.
Stuff I have accomplished since last week:
- I mentioned in my last entry that I went through 16 years of data and picked receiver functions. Well, it turned out there was a bug with the program. Because of this, I had to go through and pick it all again. It took about 4 solid days to do this.
- I have started to compile all of the receiver function data (again) and started to run it through a MATLAB program to get a good look at the slowness, the back azimuth's, etc. of each station.
- I picked receiver functions for a different sent of data from the Cheyenne Belt because another student had been unable to finish it and I had some free time.
- I read a chapter out of a geophysics book to help with my background of the area
- I have been reading through some more papers
- I wrote a short paper on what my project is, and am working on revising it this week. This will be used in my poster for AGU
And, as for everything else...
I went to visit some family in Colorado Springs two weekends ago. I had a really good time. I hadn't seen some of them for about 5 years. We mostly just hung out together. I also went to see WALL-E with a cousin and her daughter, and it was adorable. I'm going to be honest and say it made me cry. Yeah, I'm a wuss. haha.
I was sick over all the fourth of july weekend, which was no fun. Nothing too awful, I've mostly just been really tired and out of it. I did go to the stadium, though, and watch the fireworks on the fourth.
There really isn't that much to update on this time around. These past two weeks have been a bit more uneventful, and most of what I've done at work is just a repeat of what I'd done before.
Also, note to Andy in response to his response: I have not forgotten about your request to post an azimuthal plot of receiver functions for a site that looks good. I'll probably get on that this week. And as far as what the event cutoff is, I'm not sure and I keep forgetting to ask. Next update!

Where is your short paper?
Hmm. You've inspired me to
Hmm. You've inspired me to read some of Seth's seismology textbook. haha
You're lucky you have family across the country! Wall-E was pretty amazing. People seem to watch movies a lot here (?), but that's okay. I sort of want to see Hancock, even though the reviews are not so good. That sucks you got sick over the long weekend. Hope you're feeling better!
Sounds like you're doing a

...Bugs are nasty. Both physical and computer based. Hope you and you computer are both feeling better now, and that your project continues to roll along. For now I'm kind of waiting to see what I need to do for my project, which basically means waiting for Andy to get back from his trip ;)
