Progress

Well, Now I feel like I'm actually making some progress with my project.  I am feeling right at home at NMT and getting to know people in the computer lab.  Cathy, my advisor, decided that the route that we scouted and planned for our survey isn't good because its along the interstate, so Sandra and I are going out to scout another route.  LIve and learn!  I have sucessfully created a map of the area with GMT which I am incredibly proud of, though, its still a work in progress.  I am also learning a lot about filters and creating them in Matlab.  I'm learning how to use some of the theory that I have learned in class in Matlab.  I can't wait to go back to school and show off my super cool Matlab skills!

Socorro is definitely an interesting place.  Its got great mexican food.  I also have seen several roaches.  It turns out that they really are huge and gross.  There aren't any in Montana, a guess because of the climate so I've never seen any before.  I am amazed at their agility.  One came right out of the drain of the drain of the sink.  Interesting...  And, the weather is beautiful every single day. But I do hope that the monsoon that everyone has been talking about comes pretty soon.  I've also found some really cool rocks around here.  Fun.

While your blog isn't the

While your blog isn't the same as hanging the A on your spelling test on the refrigerator, we still would very much like to see the work you are proud of! Matlab, GMT maps etc! Goes for you as well Mollie!

I'm surprised you'd never

I'm surprised you'd never seen a roach before! I thought that they could be seen most anywhere, but I suppose I was wrong. That's awesome that you have made a map. That was one of the things I was proudest of. It took me so long to get the hang of it, and many hours were spent on it, but I'm so proud of it now that it's done! It would be cool if you posted yours whenever it is complete.

I suppose you should be

I suppose you should be thankful that you're not spending an internship east of the Mississippi and south of the Mason-Dixon line. Roaches (Palmetto bugs) there achieve monstrous proportions, and are often capable of flight. Perhaps post the map of your field area or a figure of some of your work in matlab if you get the chance!
