2008 Now that I have a blog, what should I blog about?

Your blog will provide,
a) a flexible medium for defining goals for the first, second and final thirds of their internship with your hosts,
b) a venue to develop plans of action to achieve these stated goals as well as a way to monitor progress throughout the summer, and
c) a venue for sharing and reflecting on the summer’s experiences with their peers.

So how might you start?  Start by describing what has happended so far. How is the orientation going?  How are you feeling about your upcoming summer experience?

Next, define what you want to get out of your summer experience. If you can clarify what you want by the end of the summer, you are significantly more likely to end up there. When developing these ideas you will probably want to cosider some of the following topics for including in your first post:
Consciously identify what you already know about your project
- Define your learning goals for the summer
- Consider your personal resources (e.g. textbooks, access to the library, access to a computer work station or a quiet study area)
- Consider the task requirements
- Determine how your performance will be evaluated
- Consider your motivation level
- Determine your level of anxiety
