New Mexico Tech - Project Summary

This summer, we will be acquiring several seismic reflection profiles with a seismic vibroseis source. We will be acquiring data in southern Nevada to identify faults and displacements to understand seismic risk for the area. In addition, we may be acquiring seismic reflection and refraction data in Utah for a CO2 sequestration project. We may also acquire data in southern Utah to image a salt weld and a subtle unconformity, both of these studies have a petroleum basis. Another potential seismic reflection project would be across the San Andreas Fault in Tejon Pass, CA. We will also be planning for an upcoming seismic refraction experiment in Mt. Erebus, Antarctica that will take place in November 2008 to January 2009 to study the magma chamber of this active volcano.
