Magnitude 7.9 Alaska

A magnitude 7.9 earthquake occurred at 12:31 am local time 181 miles southeast of Kodiak at a depth of 25 km (15.5 miles). There are no immediate reports of damage or fatalities.  Light shaking from this earthquake was felt across southern Alaska. A tsunami alert activated emergency warnings along coastal Alaska, and roused much of the population to seek shelter or move from tsunami inundation zones.
