Magnitude 7.3 Off the Coast of El Salvador

A major earthquake occurred off the coast of El Salvador. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The seismicity of El Salvador is dominated by the subduction of the Cocos plate beneath the Caribbean plate in the Middle America Trench.
