Program alumni’s research featured in 2010 T-shirt design

September 7th, 2010

This year's internship T-shirt design features the work of Scott Burdick et al.'s P-wave tomography using data from regional and teleseismic distances. Scott was an IRIS intern in 2005 working with George Zandt at the University of Arizona and is currently a PhD student at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  The dataset used to create the slice featured on the T-shirt includes USArray and TA data.  As the array moves east Burdick et al. plan to update the model leading to a high-resolution image of upper mantle structure beneath the U.S. Reference: Burdick, S., et. al., Seismological Research Letters, 79(3), 384-392, May/June 2008. http://web.mit.edu/~sburdick/www/tomography.html
