IRIS Active Earth Monitor Kiosk Loan Program (one year loan)
Application Deadline is January 20, 2012
Applications are now being accepted for the IRIS Active Earth Monitor Kiosk Loan Program. The IRIS Active Earth Monitor Kiosk Loan Program is in support of EarthScope's USArray Transportable Array. Applications are being accepted from the following states: Wisconsin, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennesse, Mississippi and Alabama.
EarthScopes's USArray Transportable Array is a dense array of seismometers designed to study the structure and evolution of the North American Continent. The Transportable Array is a network of 400 high-quality broadband seismographs that are being placed in temporary sites across the conterminous United States from west to east, and Alaska, in a regular grid pattern. With station spacing of about 70 km, Transportable Array data are extremely useful for mapping the structure of Earth’s interior. After a residence time of two years, each instrument is picked up and moved to the next carefully selected location on the eastern edge of the array. When in your state, a USArray Tranportable Array station will be no more than 35 km from you facility.

The IRIS Active Earth Monitor software runs in a standard web browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox) in full screen mode. Visitor interaction is through touch screen. The software is self contained so there it is not possible to exit the software and view external websites. The Internet connection is required to load content pages and live data. The Active Earth software uses very little bandwidth. The connection is only active when a visitor clicks on a page with live data. That page will then update with the current live data. It is possible to add custom content pages specific to your facility. These might include local geology information, expanded museum exhibit content, or even museum show times.
