Lecture Material on the concepts of Stress and Strain. Requires knowledge of vectors and tensors, as well as some matrix algebra. Concepts such as elastic and plastic deformation are discussed. This material could be used in conjunction with Stein and Wysession, Introduction to Seismology textbook, Chapter 2.
