GSN seismic station PTCN on Pitcairn Island. As a part of the seismic installation, USGS engineers installed a VSAT earthstation to provide realtime communications to the station. To assist the small island community, an Internet link was established through the earthstation to allow the locals access to the information superhighway. A few of the school children benefiting from the new link are shown in front of the dish.
