This image shows the installation of the buried instrumentation vault for the South Pole Remote Earth Science and Seismological Observatory (SPRESSO). This observatory includes the GSN station QSPA (Quiet South Pole, Antarctica). Subsurface burial reduces wind noise and moderates temperatures in the vault.
