What role does the thickness of the tectonic plate in the Basin and Range Province play in the formation of volcanoes?

The thinner tectonic plate in this region means the hotter part of the mantle is closer to the surface, making it easier for magma to rise up through cracks and fissures. Geologically any volcanoes that have erupted in the last 2000 years are considered active. They can erupt again, but we don’t know when or if they will.
