What cities are at risk for liquefaction damage?

Many cities are built along rivers or on artificial fill (such as landfills) in earthquake prone regions. San Francisco, California and Seattle, Washington are two example of cities that would suffer liquefaction damage during strong earthquake shaking. The USGS is creating liquefaction hazard maps in these regions to aid in better building for the future.
