The Geophysics Section of the School of Cosmic Physics, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies (DIAS) invites applications for a 2-year PostDoctoral Fellowship to undertake marine science research in the Porcupine Basin, west of Ireland. The research program seeks to investigate the process of crustal hyperextension in the continental lithosphere and will be spearheaded by using wideangle seismic data, integrated with a broad geophysical and geological approach.

The project is a collaboration between DIAS, the University of Southamptom, the University of Birmingham, University College Dublin and GEOMAR, Kiel. The post is funded by the Irish Shelf Programme Study Group (ISPSG) of the Petroleum Infrastructure Programme (PIP). Extensive experience of seismic data processing, together with forward and inverse modelling tools is essential.

A knowledge of sedimentary basin analysis is an advantage. The post requires engagement with both academic and industry research partners, with funding available for travel to major international conferences and scientific collaboration with research partners. The nominal start date is August 2014.

Applications: Email the following information to bor@cp.dias.ie: (1) cover letter outlining your interest in the project, (2) complete CV, (3) contact details of minimum three referees.

This Fellowship will be paid on a two year, fixed-term contract and includes benefits.
