The IRIS EMC Cross-section Stack Viewer displays a series of user-defined cross-sections. These cross-sections are plotted in the same order as they are defined by the user. The quantity contoured depends on the selected model for each slice. The velocity values along the requested latitude or longitude profiles are derived from the adjacent profiles that pass through the grid points. For each slice the horizontal axis is the location (latitude or longitude) at the surface and the vertical axis is the depth below the surface. Users can further refine the plot on their own computer by downloading the Generic Mapping Tools (GMT) script, images and data values used for generating the image. The download links will appear under the image.
Users may use the companion interactive Google Map to select the point of interest and see the area coverage for the selected models (click on a show extents radio button to display coverage of the corresponding model)
