SOSA Application
Developed in conjunction with the SCEC Community Modeling Environment, the SOSA application (Synthetic and Observed Seismogram Analysis) combines the common tasks of retrieving observed and synthetic seismograms and applying analysis routines into a single software application. The tool enables researchers to retrieve observed seismograms accessible through a DHI (Data Handling Interface) and synthetic seismograms accessible through the DDDS (Data Discovery and Distribution System). Seismograms retrieved from any source can be processed together, allowing easy comparison between synthetics and observed seismograms. Built-in processing abilities are re-sampling, tapering, filtering, rotation, convolution with instrument response and correlation between seismograms; web services provide access to other processes. Scientists may save seismograms into SAC or mSEED format. Saved seismograms include associated metadata that details the source(s) of the seismogram and history of processing.
What's new in 1.1 SOSA 1.1 provides exciting new capabilities for accessing earthquake simulations from the SCEC CME (Community Modeling Environment). This new version of SOSA is fully integrated with the CME DDDS (Data Discovery and Distribution System), enabling search and retrieval of earthquake simulation data products. Among the nearly 100 CME simulations now available are two of the Terashake simulations. This latest version of SOSA also provides enhanced searching abilities, configuration of event duplication filters and bug fixes.
Download SOSA Note: SOSA is no longer supported by the IRIS DMC. The code is free for users to download AS-IS. IRIS has no plans to develop it further, though bundled licenses still apply. The SOSA application runs on a JAVA enabled computer including Mac OS X, Unix, or Windows. InstallAnywhere will automatically install the correct software on your machine.
SOSA Tutorial and The SOSA tutorial is designed to provide a basic introduction to the capabilities of SOSA. The tutorial will walk you through retrieving seismograms from a local file and through a DHI, viewing the seismograms, applying some simple analyses and then saving your results.
Further information on how to use the application can be found in the If you have technical questions, bug reports or other feedback on
