BUD is the IRIS DMC's acronym for the online data cache from which we distribute our near-real time miniSEED data holdings prior to formal archiving.

BUD Web Interface

BUD data query interface BUD Stat BUD monitor

BUD Query Interface - Those users interested in accessing data coming through the BUD should start with this interface
- Help page

BUD Stat - Users or network operators who are interested in seeing statistics of what data is available in the BUD might like to use this interface. (more about BUD Stat...)

BUD Monitor - Those network operators (or users) who are interested in seeing the data and feed latency times might like to use this interface. Users can also request data by station (for most recent data only).

QUACK

QUACK Web Footed Interface QUACK Report Maker

QUACK (Quality Analysis Control Kit) - Users or network operators interested in viewing quality measurements (e.g. RMS, Power Spectral Density, Gaps Per Day) of data flowing through the BUD or in viewing seismogram plots of BUD data might like to use this interface.

Quack Report Maker (beta) - The Quack Report Maker allows users or network operators to query quality metrics stored in the Quack database. Quack Report Maker queries can be easily customized. Query results are presented as simple tabular reports which include quick links into Quack and Quack data plots. The queries and their resulting reports can be bookmarked for easy access and sharing.

Receiving Real Time Data from the IRIS BUD

SeedLink service

A TCP/IP based protocol designed to robustly deliver real-time, continuous data over the Internet. The robust nature of the protocol allows clients to disconnect and reconnect without losing data (reconnection must happen within a reasonable amount of time, i.e. a couple of hours). The requested data streams may be limited to specific stations, locations and/or channels. Very little data latency (seconds) is introduced relative to the real-time data streams coming in to the DMC, all latency variations are due to the DMC's upstream source. SeedLink is developed by GEOFON. For more details see the DMC SeedLink overview.

More about BUD Stat

BUD Stat also displays availability of meta data for data held in the BUD and statistics of data moved from the BUD into DMC's main archive. To archive data out of the BUD, the DMC requires meta data. To guarantee that data is archived, network operators who are contributing data to the BUD should periodically consult BUD Stat to make sure that the DMC has meta data for waveform data.
