Procedures for sending real time data to the IRIS DMC

  1. Procedures for the Data Sender

    1. Start Up

      1. Contact DMC personnel to determine the specifics of the data transfer - email DMC now.
      2. Provide the DMC with your contact information (e-mail addresses, phone numbers).
      3. Provide the DMC with your data sender configuration, i.e., data server ip and port, station/channel list.
      4. Allow the DMC access to your data server.
      5. Provide the DMC with your dataless SEED file (metadata).

    2. Ongoing

      1. Relay changes in your contact information to the DMC.
      2. Relay changes in your data sender configuration to the DMC to keep the retrieval process synchronized with the sending process.
      3. Maintain the data sender process.
      4. Provide the DMC with a current dataless SEED file when changes occur and covering the entire network life to keep metadata and data synchronized.
      5. Recommended: periodically verify data flow and data received by the DMC. Some tools for this are below:

        1. Monitor Real Time Data Flow
        2. View Metadata (MDA), views include map and response plots
        3. QA Tool (QUACK)
        4. Interface to Online Real Time Data
        5. Methods to retrieve data:

          1. Seedlink
          2. DHI Clients
          3. AutoDRM
          4. BREQ_FAST* (available 3 days latent)
*Data is available via BREQ_FAST if a dataless seed file has been provided.

  2. Procedures for the IRIS DMC

    1. Start Up

      1. Configure and start data retrieval process.
      2. Verify data flow.
      3. Verify and load dataless SEED file.

    2. Ongoing

      1. Update server and station/channel configuration.
      2. Update dataless SEED file.
      3. Maintain the data receiver process.
      4. Maintain real time serves of unrestricted data.
      5. Archive the data.
      6. Distribute the archived data.
      7. Contact network operator if problems are observed in the data flow.
