Daily Web Visits to the IRIS website in 2009. The sharp peaks correspond to major earthquakes. The dip in March 2009 was due to a power outage at the DMC. In April 2009, the M6.3 earthquake in Central Italy caused a steep increase in daily web traffic. At the end of September, there was a M8.0 quake in the Samoa Islands that resulted in a sharp increase in web visits. The M7.6 quake in Vanuatu led to a peak in web visits on Oct 7, 2009. |

The increase in visitors during May 2006 was due to an earthquake in Java. The peak in September 2007 followed the M8.4 earthquake in Sumatra. The spike in May 2008 followed the M7.9 Sichuan China earthquake. On 6 April 2009, the M6.3 earthquake in Central Italy caused a steep increase in web traffic and record number of software downloads at the DMC. |
