Uplifted Reef Corals, Solomon Islands

In the tectonically active SW Pacific, emergent coral reefs serve as excellent recorders of contemporary crustal motion. The distance  between the notches in this uplifted reef section corresponds to the uplift associated with individual earthquakes.
