On October 8, 2005 a magnitude 7.6 earthquake was felt widely throughout Pakistan, India and Afganistan. The epicenter was located in the Muzaffarahad region of Pakistan, shown by the yellow star on the map. The surrounding yellow circles are all aftershocks from the event and appear to be in the magnitude 6 range. The epicenter location is close to the convergence of two fault zones, one that is a transform fault and one that is a convergent fault.
