Using three vehicles, two trailers, one backhoe, and three people, it is feasible to construct three sites in five days.

Have truck, will travel.

To reduce interference from surface noise and to protect the equipment, Transportable Array seismometers and associated electronics are buried inside a 42 inch diameter plastic tank which will form a vault. The tank is set into seven foot deep pit and concrete is poured around the rubber membrane.

Burying a 42 inch diameter plastic tank.

Custom trailer with water tank, room for cement bags, and onboard mixer.

Site layout at the Lava Cap Winery. The vault (in the right foreground) contains the seismometer and associated electronics. The mast in the background supports a solar panel and antennae.

View into the vault. The seismometer is placed at the bottom and encased in sand. Electronics line the wall.

Sensor alignment, leveling and insulation takes over an hour.

The power distribution panel is affixed to the wall inside the vault and includes a CDMA Cell radio, Trace C12 charge controller, and Phoenix terminal strip.

The mast supports an 80 W solar panel, GPS antenna, and Cell omni directional antenna.
