Accessing IRIS Data with BREQ_FAST

BREQ_FAST - Batch REQuests, FAST

IRIS provides a few ways to access data using a BREQ_FAST Request:

1) BREQ_FAST Request via email
Batch access to the IRIS DMC archive can be obtained by electronically mailing a specially formatted file to the IRIS DMC.

When the IRIS DMC receives your request, programs will be run that will compare what you requested with what data are actually in the IRIS archive, recover the data from the mass storage system, generate the output SEED volume, and send it to you in the manner you requested. File formats include full SEED, dataless SEED, miniSEED, or SYNC file.

Read the BREQ_FAST Request Manual

2) WebRequest
This is a data request form that allows users to submit BREQ_FAST-formatted data requests to the DMC.

Go to the WebRequest Form

3) SeismiQuery BREQ_FAST Request Form (new features)
The user inputs query parameters into a form to delimit a 'breq_fast request'. The user may input query options including virtual network, a region defined by a clickable map, sensor type, channel name, and sample rate.

Another query option that the user is offered is whether the query should run over actual archived data holdings in which case the user will get a breq_fast request only containing request lines for archived data, or query over meta data in which case the query will run over all channels for which IRIS has meta data.

After the form has been submitted, a breq_fast request is generated and displayed to the user and the user is offered the option of submitting the request to receive back various types of data (SEED, miniSEED, dataless SEED, RESP, SYNC). The
user can select the types of data he/she wants, and the request will then be queued and processed in the usual breq_fast request processing system.

Go to the BREQ_FAST Request Form
