When do you add data for aftershocks?

Q:  I'm looking for a Wells, NV aftershock that occurred on February 22 2008.  How long does it typically take for you to post data?  (I'm trying to download wave forms using Wilber II.)  I noticed that for several days now, aftershocks from the preceding day are posted.

A:  WILBER is designed to capture event data for significant events and does not currently have a policy of follow-on for aftershocks of arbitrary magnitude for notable events.  Since the Nevada quake initially registered as a 4.6, this is right at the threshold for what would alert WILBER to capture data.

For smaller quakes, we like to point users to our other utility which taps into our core archive.

JWEED:  This utility will allow you to find and select earthquakes, select stations to get data, and then download and view waveforms.  You can write data as SAC or miniSEED to disk.
