Can no longer get BHE or BHN channels

Q:  I am curious if there was a problem with the BHE and BHN components of station PAYG as part of the IU network?  I requested to download data yesterday and the BHZ channel shows data through 2010.180 but the BHE and BHN channels only show data up to 2010.107.  Also there appears to be two BHZ channels with different location tags for the same time period.  Any explanation you have would be greatly appreciated.

A:  Recently the horizontal components of the IU.PAYG station (and all other GSN stations) were renamed from BHE and BHN to BH1 and BH2.  When you requested BHE and BHN your request will not include the BH1 and BH2 channels.  If you want to get all of the broadband channels my suggestion is to wildcard your request using something like 'BH*'.

Regarding the two different location codes they are commonly used to identify different equipment at the same site.

The MetaData Aggregator will show you all the location IDs (and their associated channels):

Looking through the time history you can see the horizontal channel name changes.
